Fordingbridge is a small riverside town that has been described by some as the northern gateway to The New Forest.
This Hampshire town has been built on the banks of the River Avon and many will recognise its distinctive medieval bridge with seven arches that span the river.
Found on Western boundary of the National Park there is plenty to do and explore right on the doorstep. The open and picturesque heathlands of the New Forest are just a short distance away so whether you’re a walker, cyclist or casual day-tripper enjoying some fresh air with the family, there is so much to see and do.
Back in the centre of the town you can expect to sample the local produce on offer with a wander down the high street which offers plenty of local shops, cafes, bakeries and butchers offering a large variety of goods. Banks, pharmacies and of course some fantastic pubs and restaurants ensure you have all that you need to call this beautiful area home.
Take a break from pottering around the town with a trip to the Riverside Park where the children can play in the attractive playpark and playing field, or you can take a walk along the riverbank and enjoy the secluded memorial gardens, there really is something for everyone.
Just 3 miles west of Fordingbridge is the village of Alderholt, crossing the border into a peaceful and beautiful area of East Dorset. With its own local amenities including a small convenience supermarket and post office, GP surgery, Vet, Pub and Junior School it’s become a popular place for house hunters.
With a large recreational ground with children’s play area and outdoor gym, plus plenty of walking and cycling routes on your doorstep as you step into nearby Ringwood Forest, there is plenty to explore and entertain the whole family.
The properties in Fordingbridge, Alderholt and their surrounding areas are good value for the New Forest and range anywhere from beautiful thatched cottages with plenty of character to modern family homes. For families there are a number of local schools and nurseries that all are all well regarded and welcoming.
Positioned just off the main road between Salisbury and Christchurch and nestled between the stunning New Forest and chalk downlands of Cranborne Chase, the Fordingbridge and Alderholt areas offer the best of both worlds with good road networks and that countryside quiet to settle down in. Just a short drive north gets you to Salisbury’s Train Station and in the other direction, Bournemouth’s International Airport, meaning you can stay well connected while enjoying the peaceful life on offer.
